DESCRIPTION:North Georgia Basketry is excited to share information about the 2026 Wisconsin Weave Away\, a basket weaving conference featuring pre-conference workshops\, Friday class offerings\, experienced basketry teachers\, and a full weekend of creative weaving opportunities. \nThe event will begin with Pre-Conference classes on Thursday\, October 1\, 2026\, followed by the main conference from Friday\, October 2 through Sunday\, October 4\, 2026. Registration opens May 31\, 2026\, with registration packets expected to be emailed around May 29. \nThis basketry event offers a strong mix of traditional basket weaving\, black ash basketry\, birch bark weaving\, ribbed basketry\, decorative weaving\, and beginner-friendly projects. The pre-conference schedule includes classes with Anne Bowers\, Beth Homa-Kraus\, and April Stone\, featuring projects such as Seashell #1 or #2\, Birch Bark Field Pouch\, and Black Ash Herb Drying Basket. The pre-conference materials describe Anne Bowers’ Seashell class as an advanced ribbed basketry project built around a hardwood sapling\, while Beth Homa-Kraus’ Birch Bark Field Pouch combines birch bark weaving and leatherwork over a two-day format. \nFriday class offerings include both afternoon and evening sessions\, with beginner and intermediate basket weaving options.
